And here we have another optimized build of the latest CVS DOSBox. There were some issues with the serial driver part - nothing big though. I hope you enjoy this build and please report any bugs.
Universal binary here: DOSBox_0.66rc1_Universal.dmg.gz
Slightly modified CVS source here: DOSbox_CVS-070212-66rc1_fixed.tar.gz
Update:
I played a bit with the compile settings and did a new build (at home on my intel iMac). Before I will release a new universal build I have to compile the powerpc part at work on my PowerMac G4. So hold your horses for just a little while before you can enjoy that 90ies ego shooter as much as I do.
Ah.. BTW.. some download sites with abandonware still have that ego shooter online. One of them even offered the title music as a midi file - spooky!
Update:
OK, and here is the new build with “fixed” open-gl compile settings (I wasn't able to test it fully on ppc, only on intel).

Update:
Some guy on IRC asked me whether Quake peforms well in DOSBox or not. I told him it really does but he didn't quite beliefe me knowing my weak skills in Quake. He claimed that I played so badly in the past that I wouldn't be able to judge a 2 FPS Quake from a playable 25 FPS one. To prove the high performance of DOSBox on my Core2Duo I did a TIMEDEMO DEMO1 and the screenshot you can see here displays the result.
DOH! I showed him the picture but his only comment was that this tiny stamp-like resolution must be the reason for the good FPS values. So I did the test again using the 640×400 pixel resolution this time . The resulting 20.0 FPS are still somewhat OKish. Well.. at least for me.
Update:
After finding out that the key combination CTRL + OPTION + COMMAND + F5 records video on OSX I dared to record a few seconds of a first person shooter that I play quite a lot ATM. Remembering the machine had to display the content on screen too while recording the result is quite remarkable. Enjoy!
Update:
And here is another one. This time recorded with the latest version of DOSBox 0.70.
