DOSBox phad binary for MacOSX
Somebody on the VOGON forums reported about a problem with the current DOSBox CVS build on a MacPro machine. Since his/her machine isn't using an INTeL Core2Duo but a Xeon CPU the reason for the crashes could be related to the compiler options I used.
Together with the trouble we had on G3s I thought that it would be best to have a fat binary that supports not only the usual two plattforms (i386, ppc) but also binaries for G3, G4, G5, Core2Duo and Xeon. The resulting binary would be about 60MB in size - but who cares about application sizes these days?
I hope that I can finish the builds within the next few hours. I will post the result here. To provide some fun till the release here is a first universal build of todays CVS. While I noticed some performance issues on WitchHaven it gave me incredible speeds at MagicCarpet (actually the game was so fast it wasn't playable anymore %-) ).
Have fun with this one: DOSBox_0.70cvs070616_MacOSX_UB.zip
Update:
I had no success with the fat binary.
I have no clue how to combine a Xeon and Core2 binary using lipo. It always gives me errors - muxing different PowerPC architectures is no problem though.
Update:
Here you can find a special phad binary build which I did about two weeks ago. It is a baked-together binary for G3, G4, G5 and INTeL Macs - each optimized to a certain extend. I am using it for quite some time now and I don't have any troubles with it. Despite from the versioning number this is in no way an official build - so please do not link to it: DOSBox-0.71rc1_Universal.dmg.zip
