DOSbox 0.65 for INTeL Macs

[DOSBox Logo]

I have seen that there was only a PPC version of the DOSbox emulator available for Macs running OSX. Since I now own a Core2Duo Mac (mum is going to get the old G5 iMac) it was the time to change this.

There is some ASM code in the file src/cpu/core_dyn_x86/risc_x86.h that doesn't compile out of the box:

And here we have another optimized build of the latest CVS DOSBox. There were some issues with the serial driver part - nothing big though. I hope you enjoy this build and please report any bugs.

I noticed a few issues with the latest DOSBox build on Mac OSX. I wasn't quite sure if these were caused by software bug(s) or by my OS configuration (version-level, addons, hardware, ...) so I started that thread. At the moment it looks like this joystick-startup-crash bug can be fixed and even will be fixed soon. I'll monitor the CVS output and update this entry with a new build as soon as it happens.

I really never thought anyone could be that brave to use the official DOSBox distribution on a G3. The Vogons forums proved me wrong, though.

I had modified the compiler settings on the official binary to optimize the powerpc part a little more. The result is a working binary that renders a certain game I use for testing without hickups and glitches in the sound output on G4 and up - which is great! The big downside is that suddenly the G3 target wont compile anymore (no,…

Here you will find my attempts to get DOSBox running with a TCP/IP stack. My intention was to get a system environment similar to the one I used at university in the early 90ies. Back then there were only a few UNIX machines available but a lot of IBM PS/2 systems which were running DOS and Turbo Pascal for the computer science courses. With NCSA telnet we were able to log into the UNIX machines and do other stuff like C or Modula programming.
The whole thing is like a…

You have an oldschool G3 macintosh computer and want to run oldschool PC software and have no idea how to do this? Well DOSBox is the solution for you then!

Unfortunately the official 0.70 build of DOSBox for OSX has all kind of compiler switches set to juice the most performance out of your PowerPC G4 (and up) CPU and obviously doesn't run on old G3 anymore. For those people I provide a precompiled DOSBox binary here. It runs on my INTeL iMac using the rosetta…

While I was working on the DosBox sources and reading a few forums to get some clues I came across a patch for libSDL called OpenGL-HQ. OpenGL-HQ is a video “driver” for SDL that uses your graphics hardware to scale the output to any size you want. It was originally written for 2D games/emulators like dosbox, scummvm or exult.
